Thank you for your kind wishes… And yes we are normally driving or riding from Memphis to our meetings in Nashville. Hopefully we will be able to do that again after I am purchasing a handicap access van. And ones more, thank you and best Christmas wishes.
All the best…
Bert

Just an update of Shirley’s progress or luck of progress. The last update was when she went to the Rehabilitation facility Baptist in Germantown. She spend two weeks in isolation and than I was disappointed. Well, after three days the rules changed and I was able to see her and spend most of my time with her. After tree weeks she send her home with all kind of tools (wheelchair etc.) with in home care. Three different people where assigned to take care of her in home care. We had a problem one of the folks of the home care people. A physical therapist. In her care she dropped Shirley on the floor and we had to cal the fire department to get her up. After that Shirley fell again and she ripped her big toenail off and Shirley had to transported back to the hospital. Each time the fire department told me not to follow me to the ER because of Covid I would not be allowed in until she was on a room. This could take up to 24 hrs. Well she was in the hospital for ten days. On the day before release I mentioned to the 4th doctor that there was a problem with her left leg (after sitting a while her foot would turn very dark). The doctor ordered an ultrasound and a blood clod was discovered. Therefor Shirley is now on a blood thinner. From the hospital Shirley was transferred to a rehab facility in Bartlett. They did not allow any visitors. To get phone calls answered to get information was very difficult. In fact it was so bad, that we made to decision to transfer her to a rehab facility on Sumerville, Tennessee. Even so it was is was a 45 min drive each way, it was to Shirley’s advantage because she was treated as a human being. In a nutshell, that were she is right now. Her condition did not improve. Christmas Day we have it arranged for a ambulance to transport her to one of our granddaughters house ( the family will get together there for a Christmas dinner). She will have to returned by end of day. However, Shirley will be released on Tuesday, December 28. Medicare is providing her with expensive patient transfer device. In the meantime had the bathroom doors widened so the a wheelchair will path through it. Medicare will also pay for a team, Physical therapist, occupational therapist as well as a registered nurse to visit her every week. Also, I have a home care service Organized to help out three times a week (to be payed by us and not Medicare).
Sorry it is longer than I was thinking. But this is as brief as I could make it.
Merry Christmas To all of you and your families.
Best Regards, Bert
