Hi, ALL MC-Riders!!!
Well, let me give a little update about my wife, Shirley...
After the surgery, actually, the neurosurgeon told us before the surgery, that the problem was misdiagnosed and the problem she had had nothing to do with diabetes and with a narrowing of the cervical spine which caused the nerves inside the spine to
rub and caused her problem.
Recovery is going to be slow and take as much as a year to be fully effective. The day after the surgery I thought I could see an improvement (maybe I just wanted to see the change) but the surgeon verified the change for the better and he was very pleased
with the progress.
After the hospital stay (a week) Shirley was transferred to
Baptist
Rehab Hospital for two weeks.
She also got a motorized wheelchair authorized.
She is now treated with homecare nursing as well as physical therapy.
Now to an insult to injury, we both got THE virus which slowed progress...
We can not will for losing.
But we are over is now and Shirley is continuing making progress. We are now at the stage to transfer her from the wheelchair to the car seat. It is slow but we are making progress. She is also now walking, with the aid of a walker, the hallway from
bedroom to kitchen (approx 45 ft). Shirley has not been walking since June of 2021.
All the best from us and keep your fingers crossed for us...
And regards from
Shirley and yours truly (Bert)..
My bike has not been used in over a year... I'm running it in the garage for a few minutes every now then...
