I joined the club after the last MOA gathering out in Lebanon. I have yet to engage in any rides, just hasn’t worked with my schedule. I was really wanting to go on the ride last weekend and almost did, but my wife travels for work and we wanted to keep everyone safe. Sorry to hear about Larry and the accident. My prayers are with him and his family.
I was curious, was anyone able to pick up his bike and get it home for him?

Seems he is holding his own. Needed some more blood last night and was still in the trauma unit . Hope to give better update tomorrow evening or Friday.

I always go to the main donation center on Charlotte. Less crowded and more space. Mike Umphres Principal, Compensation Advantage 615-406-3280

Here is a note to all the old folks wanting to donate blood to help Larry. I went today at 2 PM. The nurse came to bring me into the bus. I had brought some extra masks I had at home and she told me they could not use them as it was against their rules. She then told me there were 10 others in the bus donating at that time. Im 73. I went home. Im going to check out other sites to donate, but i won’t be coming to a bus. Sitting in a bus with that many strangers, not even wearing masks, seems like a risk. Guess Im chicken.

You are welcome. If anyone knows what it is like in a hospital, you do. My bet is he will be on a bike sooner than later.
Take care, Douglas

This is a shocker Doug. I believe that all will agree that Larry is one of the nicest guys around and that he needs to know that we are all pulling for him during this difficult time. Thanks for letting us know about this and thanks in advance the for the future updates. Charles

Larry Marcum Update:
Many of you have probably heard by now that this past Saturday (March 21, 2020) Larry Marcum was riding with friends, on his 650 GS, went off the road in a curve close to Santa Fe, TN and it appears he hit a tree after going down an embankment. He was life-flighted to Vanderbilt in serious condition and I am glad to report that as of this morning (Monday) he is doing much better. Needless to say, Larry is on heavy pain medication at the moment. Seems Larry broke some ribs, had some internal bleeding and injuries but the major and immediate concerns are much better and he is on a path to recovery.
With the Coronavirus-19 and a "no visitors" policy at the hospital, even his wife and children have not been allowed to see him so they talk to Larry and the medical staff over the phone. Pat is giving me a condition update each day and she is fine and she has no current needs. There are many of us willing to jump in should she require anything and I will ask club members for help if we see there is something we can do. Pat did say blood donations might be helpful as Larry did use over 5 pints when he first arrived. Not sure where someone would go to give blood these days. The Red Cross has been suggested.
Right now is probably not a good time to contact him but sure he would love to hear from his friends a little later. For the moment, please contact me and I will share with you what I can.
Please keep Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers

Oh wow! This is the first that I heard about the accident. We peeled off from the group in Waverly. Yesterday I thought about the group and how the rest of the ride went....little did I know.
Larry: Take care. We are praying for a quick and smooth recovery.
Doug: Let me know if I can help in any way. Pass my greetings on to Larry if he is not getting these messages. I'll stand by.
