Advanced Rider Course

The only thing we love more than riding is riding safely!  Steve Barber of Volunteer Motorcycle Training Services is offering the club a special opportunity to take their Advanced Rider Course.  vMTS, all their Rider Coaches, and the course are MSF certified.  This is a great chance for the experienced rider to refresh, learn a couple of new skills, and warm up after the long, wet, cold winter.

From the vMTS website:

A one-day course for riders with basic skills, this class provides more in-depth riding techniques and procedures than practiced in the Basic RiderCourse.

The course consists of activities that emphasize personal risk management and self-assessment strategies, and on-cycle exercises with emphasis in cornering, braking and swerving.

Even if you’ve been riding for some time, there’s always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the full-day Advanced RiderCourse to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

You’ll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position.

If cancellation is required, notice may not occur until the day before the class date.

Course requirements:  A current motorcycle license/endorsement, your own street-legal motorcycle, and helmet.

Minimum class size is seven, maximum is 12.  Steve has requested a cutoff date of March 13 for registration so that he can fill the class with other riders if necessary - if you miss the cutoff and it looks like there are still slots available, contact Pete.

This special deal is only being offered to club members, and is not even advertised on the vMTS website.  The $100 price is a bargain for a full-day course, and to make it even sweeter, you can get $75 back from the club as your once-a-year training benefit.  And because this course is recognized by MSF and the state of Tennessee, you may be able to save 10% on your insurance bill!  That's like free money!

Important Details:

Steve needs additional registration details to complete his TN and MSF paperwork, so we're going to ask you to fill in a bunch of stuff as they appear on your driver's license, even though we have some of that in your member info.  You'll want your driver's license handy when you register.

The classroom and riding range is located in the east parking lot of Aladdin Temp-Rite on the east side of Hendersonville.  Enter in the shipping/receiving lane next to Pinnacle Bank.

Cancellation policy:  vMTS will only refund cancellations more than 14 days in advance, so we are passing through that policy.  If you have to cancel after that, we will try to find another member to take your spot, but no guarantees.
